39 Ways RVers Can Hire Other RVers

Woman works on computer in her RV
Did you know you can hire other RVers for your company, task lists, or unexpected needs?
Connected through the shared bond of nomadic travel, the RVing community helps its own. If you’ve spent more than a few days RVing around the country, you’ve likely experienced this first-hand.

This doesn’t just apply to helping a fellow RVer who’s stranded on the side of the road or struggling with a small repair in the RV park (thought those definitely do happen!). This also applies to professional help, such as when you have tax questions, or want to upgrade a part of your RVing setup or want to bounce some business questions off someone. Just because they’ve hit the road alongside you doesn’t mean RVers have left their professional skills and talents at their sticks-and-bricks home.

If you run a business from the road, you may find yourself in need of a new logo, running into tax or other financial questions, wanting to update your website, or offloading smaller tasks to someone so you can focus on your main goals. Guess what? There are RVers capable and eager to help with needs like these!

Even if you’re a part-time RVer, setting out for a few weeks at a time, you probably have needs you can solve when when you hire other RVers. Want someone to house-sit for you while you’re gone? You can often find RVers ready to settle down in a spot for a bit, maybe for a work need or to visit friends and family nearby. They can park in your driveway and keep an eye on your home while you’re away! Want to work on your rig while you’re adventuring? Who better to ask for help than someone who has traveled full-time by RV and worked on their own and others’ for years? You’ll also find dog walkers, pet groomers, even errand-runners in most any campground you visit along your travels. All you have to do is ask!

RVer Job Exchange Connects RVers

An easy way to find RVers to fill these needs and more is by checking out the RVer Job Exchange (RVJE). Launched in 2016, and recently upgraded and revitalized, RVJE offers a handy platform by which RVers can connect with other RVers (and potential employers) to fill a variety of short- and long-term needs.

If you haven’t considered how you can hire other RVers before, you may be unsure what kinds of jobs they could do for you. In addition to the ideas above, we’ve created a couple of lists you may find useful as you explore this new outlet for getting things done!

Graphic Designers

You’ll find many graphic designers in your RV travels. These kinds of skills adapt well for a mobile lifestyle, making it easy to offer services from the road. RVing graphic designers can:

  • Design a logo for a new business, product, or service.
  • Design your new business cards, brochures, and flyers
  • Design a book/ebook cover

RV Maintenance & Repair

Unlike many technicians and manufacturers, RVers have the unique experience of living in the RVs they work on. Some learn through trial and error, others are certified through various instructional programs, but plenty are perfect for your RV project and renovation help!

  • Installing solar panels for boondocking
  • Replacing old carpet with laminate wood flooring
  • Winterizing or dewinterizing your rig for the season

Those same RVers are often great with maintenance and repair needs like:

  • Auto detailing and RV cleaning
  • Mobile auto and/or RV repair
  • Routine RV maintenance

As we mentioned above, hiring other RVers can be the perfect solution for your property, transportation, or pet needs, too!

  • House/Property sitting
  • Pet sitting
  • Pet care and grooming
  • Dog walking
  • Move your RV to a new location
  • Deliver an RV to a new owner
  • Store your RV on location

Digital Content Managers & Creators

For nomadic entrepreneurs, you may find yourself in need of some help keeping your website’s or social media account’s content fresh and applicable. It takes time to write good articles and compelling posts. Why not source some of that out to someone who has the time to do it for you? You’ll find ample writers, social media managers, and content creators in your RV travels who can:

  • Create content for your website
  • Write product/service descriptions
  • Transcribe videos and podcasts
  • Create slide decks and presentation material
  • Create social media Images
  • Schedule your social media posts
  • Create a posting schedule and calendar
  • Manage your Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Youtube ads.

Business & Professional Services

Entrepreneurs also find themselves in need of financial and other professional services. Working with an RVer who understands the intricacies of RV life, and who can empathize with your situation, can help immensely in saving time and energy you can instead focus on growing your business. Keep these ideas in mind as you consider hiring your fellow RVers:

  • Monthly bookkeeping for your business
  • File your personal and business taxes
  • Manage employee payroll
  • Data entry
  • Database management
  • Managing your calendar, travel, and meetings
  • Organize your email inbox(es)
  • Sorting & organizing media files
  • Define and organize business processes

Maybe you’re on the hunt for a new perfect-for-you job? Or maybe you want some feedback on how to get that dream promotion? You’ll find business professionals on the road who can help with needs like this. Current and former recruiters, human resources staff, office managers, and others are great resources for tasks like:

  • Resume review and proofreading
  • Resume and job search coaching
  • Create a remote work resume

Sharing Expertise & Experience

If you haven’t already figured it out, most RVers love to share what they know! And they know a lot! Whether their expertise lies in RV renovations, elementary education, musicality, or elsewhere, learning from a fellow RVer can prove both fun and useful! They can help you:

  • Learn a new skill or master subject matter
  • Learn how to play an instrument
  • Tutor your child while traveling

Through the RVer Job Exchange, you can connect with other RVers to share opportunities for income like these and utilize their skills to answer your own needs.

RVers Looking for Jobs

Do your skills and talents align with any of these? Don’t forget, the RVer Job Exchange is also where you can list your resume and showcase your own abilities, making it easier for RVers to find YOU when they need to fill jobs like these. It is a portal into the RVing community, allowing businesses and employers to post job listings, while also enabling RVers to hire fellow RVers for jobs like freelancing, gigs, short -term projects and recurring tasks!

Next time you find yourself in need, look for your fellow RVers on RVJE and support the RVing community from the inside out!

One Response

  1. Another to add to professional services is travel / cruise travel agent. When we went full-time, my wife was able to keep her travel agency that she’s built over the past… almost 15 years now.

Remember: Always use a travel agent instead of booking directly with the cruise lines! Your agent is one that will sit on hold for you during issues so you don’t have to. And most don’t know this (we didn’t!) that using an independent cruise travel agent *doesn’t add any cost*! Furthermore, an agent that’s part of a larger agency often has access to blocked off groups that result in better rates!
