The Best of Northern Ireland HOP

March 19, 2022 - March 26, 2022

The Best of Northern Ireland HOP 1

Location: Ireland

Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and lies on the northeastern portion of Ireland’s island. It is one of the most popular places for vacationers, and you will visit some of the hottest “must-see” sites that Northern Ireland has to offer.

Start your sightseeing in Dublin, Ireland, a member of the European Union and is known for its literary heritage, Georgian architecture, and famous pubs. See the city’s sights, including St. Stephen’s Green, Trinity College and the River Liffey.

Sip on a famous creamy Irish coffee by the turf fires at the oldest pub dating back to 900 AD. Galway is on the River Corrib and has medieval streetscape, Eyre Square, and the Spanish Arch. Stop and listen to the buskers on the streets as you explore the quaint small shows.

Visit an Ireland farm and see the extraordinary skills of the sheepdogs herding their flock. Traveling on through the rugged scenery to Donegal, a town established around a Viking harbor, know today for handcrafted tweeds and woolens. End up the day in Letterkenny.

Enjoy dinner as you listen to traditional music at the oldest thatched pub in Ireland. Take a guided walking tour of historic Derry, which has fortification walls dating back to the 17th century.

In Northern Ireland, you are never more than 35 miles from the sea and some of the magnificent marine life found off the coast are whales, dolphins, and sharks.

Some land animals are badgers, fox, owls, eagles, waterfowl, partridges, and pheasants.

Visit Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the sea cliffs and hexagonal rock column formations created 6 million years ago by flowing lava. From the tops of the columns to the Atlantic Ocean, the rocks resemble steppingstones disappearing into the ocean.

Tour Belfast, a port city rich in history and is known for its architectural heritage. See the City Hall built in the 1900s Renaissance style, and the Parliament Building at Stormont, home to the Northern Ireland Assembly established in the 1990s, peace process.

Visit Titanic Belfast and discover the role the shipbuilders played in the building of the Titanic ocean-liner.

Travel to the historical town of Carlingford on the Cooley Peninsula. This town dates to medieval times and is famous for its oyster farms and beautiful landscape. See 13th-century ruins of a castle and an abbey. Traveling back to Dublin, enjoy a lively farewell evening dinner and traditional Irish entertainment at the Merry Ploughboy Pub.

You can take Memory-of-a-Lifetime photos as you breathe in the freshness of Northern Ireland’s famous, old-fashioned countryside and farmlands.

This HOP is action-packed with site-seeing, tours, history, delicious Northern Ireland cuisine, and a considerable amount of walking.
